During the past 40 years, our mining and earthworks contracts have extended the length and breadth of the African continent. We have operated from the tropics of West and East Africa, in Mali Guinea, Ghana, Tanzania and Mozambique to the mountains of Lesotho and the Namib and Kalahari deserts of Namibia and Botswana. Our work is outdoors, hands on, often 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. The ambient temperatures range from 10° below zero up to 55°, with average rainfalls from 50mm to 3,000mm per annum with the accompanying extremes of humidity levels. Our mining contracts are remotely located, away from towns and cities, family and friends. Many are only accessible by plane especially in the rainy seasons. We adapt to the local customs and cultures of the country and region in which we are working, in terms of language, currency the society and community. This career will be both physically and mentally demanding, requiring a high level of physical fitness and a positive and self reliant attitude. You will live a nomadic, sometimes frugal lifestyle with many moves from mining contract to contract during your career. However, each of these exciting moves will expose you to different mining techniques, new locations, different people, cultures and lifestyles. We own and operate huge earthmoving machines such as 200 tonne Dump Trucks and 500 tonne Shovels and Excavators which consume an average of 5 million litres of diesel per month. We service, maintain and repair these machines in extremely harsh environmental conditions to ensure that we utilize these machines to their maximum availability. We drive and operate these earthmoving machines to drill and blast the earth and then to load and haul it to a crusher so the minerals can be processed by our clients. This is the business of contract mining and earthmoving. |
